Our Counselling Approach

Unique to you.

Whether you are struggling with life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, or depression, we are here to help. Life has many ups and downs and our counselling philosophy is to witness your journey and empower you to strive towards your goals. We may unpack past experiences through a trauma-informed lens, develop tools for managing emotions, or process current life challenges. Whatever your need is, we are here to help. You are unique and your counselling experience should be too.

Therapeutic modalities.

We believe in drawing on tried and true traditional therapies, such as psychodynamic and narrative therapy, while infusing modern approaches likes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and expressive therapies (such as art, music, and play therapy). Our integrative approach allows us to customize our approach to meet your needs and help you tackle your unique life challenges.

The power of technology.

Thanks to the power of technology, we are enabled to meet virtually via video-conferencing apps with your privacy and confidentiality in mind.

Collaborative story telling.

Colloquially, we often refer to life changes as "new chapters" and fresh starts as "turning a new page". Storytelling is an ineffaceable part of the human experience and through storytelling, humans communicate, learn to empathize, and grow. Combined with the benefits of harnessing play for unobtrusive processing and enhanced learning, collaborative storytelling is a powerful tool for bringing people together, for processing difficult feelings, and building pro-social skills.

Whether you are considering therapeutically applied tabletop role-playing games for yourself or for a youth in your life, you have come to the right place. Emerging research has demonstrated the potent, potential benefits of tabletop role-playing games when utilized in a therapeutic setting. What does this mean? This means that with the facilitation of a mental health professional, we can help participants develop skills such as teamwork, social communication, creative problem solving, and frustration tolerance while keeping them engaged in a safe and fun environment.

Therapeutically applied tabletop role-playing games are a great option for individuals who want to work on developing social skills, reducing social anxiety, or who are just looking for a fun way to engage with like-minded peers in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
